Diwali Celebration
Celebrating festival of lights (October 2022)
Diwali is one of the two biggest Hindu festival celebrated across India (other festival being Holi). I wanted to share with my readers, what all things I made this Diwali to make it more special.
Diwali is celebrated across India because it signifies the return of Lord Rama from Sri Lanka, back to Ayodhya (City in North India) after defeating the malevolent demigod Ravana. In this festival, we light up our homes with Diyas (Oil Lamps) and decorate our homes with lights. This festival signifies the victory of Good over Evil.
Just like light annihilates darkness, in the same way we wish that Diwali brings happiness and joy in our life and annihilates all the bad omen from our lives.
In this festival, we also make Rangoli in order to please Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) so that she can visit our homes and bestow her blessings on our family.
Rangoli is made from coloured powder. Goddess Lakshmi’s foot are pointing towards our home indicating that she is coming towards our house and bestowing her blessings. The huge flower is made to impress the goddess.
Taking part in making Rangoli is a very entertaining and enjoyable . Rangoli is usually made with your friends or your family members. The readers should definitely try to experience the joy of creating Rangoli.
Now I would like to show some pictures I took of our decorated house.
All the photos in the blog were clicked by me. Apart from painting, I also like to partake in photography.
Last but not the least, I also drew a special painting for the occasion.
The painting is made from Acrylic colours with the help of paint brushes. In the painting we can see a typical traditional Indian lady celebrating Diwali. She is wearing a traditional Indian dress Sari and wearing traditional Indian ornaments (Gajra) and makeup. We can also see flying lanterns and diyas in background.
